Job Duties
- Install assemblies made from a variety of materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.) from blueprints, samples, or verbal instructions.
- Good mechanical aptitude, including the ability to use basic hand and measuring tools.

In preparation for a painting project, auto body painters remove rust and other debris from surfaces to be painted, fill cavities and dents in vehicles to create an even surface, mask or tape off details and components to avoid contamination and select the proper colors and substances for the project. The painting process involves using paint sprayers and brushes to apply paint to a vehicle, determining the necessary application of paint for a thorough coat and checking for runs or sags in the paint to ensure a quality product
Job Duties
- Mix, tint and blend automotive paint based on the application.
- Spray/apply the paint to medium and large trucks in a down draft paint booth.
- Ensure that the final product is up to standards set by Valew. Follow directions from shop foreman of daily tasks.
- Mask or tape off details and components to avoid contamination and select proper colors and substances for the project.
- Ability to use paint sprayers and brushes to apply paint to a vehicle.
- Determine the necessary application of paint for a thorough coat and check for runs and sags in the paint.
- Accurately masks and protects parts that are not to be painted.
- Inspects painted parts for quality of workmanship, noting any issues and resolving them immediately.
- Maintains tools and keeps equipment and workspace clean

Position Overview
Valew is looking for a motivated and dependable Machine Operator / General Shop Worker to join our Texas production team. This is a dynamic role designed for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and is eager to develop technical skills in the manufacturing and truck body industry.
You will start with core material processing and shop support, with a clear path toward mastering specialized machinery. If you are a "fixer" by nature and take pride in seeing a project through from raw steel to a finished product, you’ll fit right in.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Processing: Measuring, cutting, grinding, and prepping raw materials (primarily steel).
- Machine Operation: Learning to safely operate and maintain shop equipment such as laser, press-break, plasma and robots.
- Shop Support: Assisting fabrication and assembly teams by moving parts, organizing workstations, and ensuring the shop floor remains safe and efficient.
- Quality Control: Checking finished parts for accuracy and defects to ensure every component meets Valew’s high standards.

The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Draftsman to translate engineering concepts into precise technical drawings. You will be responsible for creating 2D and 3D models for our diverse product line, including Dump Trucks, Water Trucks, Lube Trucks, and Trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting: Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for truck bodies (dump, water, lube) and trailers using SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).
- Nesting & Material Optimization: Utilize nesting software to create efficient layouts for laser and plasma cutting, minimizing material waste and optimizing production flow.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications for the production floor.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and shop floor teams to troubleshoot design issues and ensure drawings reflect real-world manufacturing constraints. Reports to production manager and engineer. Communicates effectively with out of state team.
- Quality Control: Review and revise drawings based on feedback to ensure 100% accuracy before they hit the assembly line.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Software Expertise: Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling) and AutoCAD is mandatory. One year experience minimum.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in heavy equipment, automotive, or metal fabrication industries.
- Nesting Experience: Proven ability to use nesting software for sheet metal optimization. Experience with TruTops Boost or similar is beneficial.
